This post will show you the basic settings and configuration of taskbar using Windows 10 and it’s almost the same interface with Windows 11. You may want your taskbar to locate at the top of the screen instead of the traditional and default bottom position, you may also want your task bar items to be big, small or medium and the items to have labels. To configure the taskbar, right-click on the taskbar and select ‘Taskbar settings’, a taskbar personalization will open.

Let’s dive into the important items in the taskbar settings.
Lock the taskbar: Turn this on to lock the taskbar in one position, if turned on the taskbar can be drag to any four positions of the screen with a click and drag action.
Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode: If turned on, the taskbar bar will be hidden and only show when you hover the mouse at the taskbar position.
Taskbar location on screen: select which position among bottom, top, left and right to show the taskbar

Combine Taskbar Button: choose whether to show taskbar icons or hide the icons.
Select which icons appear on the taskbar: Here you can select the icons that will appear on the right side of the taskbar like volume, network, power etc.
